The return of Man Crush Friday

While perusing my stats, like every blogger secretly does, hour by hour, day by day, I realised that despite my insightful analysis and witty asides on the state of sport, one of the most popular posts was all about having a man crush on a particular sportsman.
And so, much like Lazarus from the flames, here comes another Man Crush Friday, where we look at the sportsmen we idolise, adore, or just think are all-round swell guys.
My Man Crushes this week are Jenson Button and Tom Brady (see above for dreamy pics). Button has done a fantastic job winning the Formula 1 championship with a rookie team, while Tom Brady, one of the best quarterbacks ever, is in London this week, for the annual NFL game at Wembley.
So, who are your sporting Man Crushes this week?
Wait until next year 
This week I have been mostly man-crushing on Kenny Dalglish in his goalscoring prime, courtesy of YouTube. Anything to take away the pain of the sorrow recent displays by the current crop of Liverpool FC players. Jenson is in the mix too – love the way Lewis Hamilton has had that smile wiped from his face.

Oh and I sympathise with the stats thing. I have written quite politically in recent days, and there have been some very intersting responses. But the most hits? me ranting, half-tongue-in-cheek, about Guitar Hero.

WordPress Stats are far, far too addictive. I get much too excited about even one more pageview than normal. And, of course, there is a real randomness about what is popular and what is not. And the strange search terms that people use! Oh, I could wax lyrical about stats all day.
What a saddo I am!
And a great call on Kenny Dalglish – I can feel a YouTube-fest coming on…

The search stuff can be really intriguing. For instance, for three days now a piece I did a couple of weeks ago about Monty Python has been getting loads of hits and the stats tell me that there have been lots of search engine entires looking for either various members of Python or certain sketches. No one has written anything on the blog so I can’t tell if one person has been checking out all things Python or if suddenly there has been a rush of interest in them even though their 40th anniversary was the week I posted.
Kenny’s smile when he scored, by the way, was a joy to behold. I am assured enough in my sexuality to admit that, had I turned out to be gay, I would probably have wanted to end up with a guy who had a smile like that.
