Man Crush Friday – Liverpool Edition
by Steve
Apologies to all my avid readers for the lack of new posts this week – I had a brief holiday, with no access to the internet. But here I am, back with a vengeance, with another one of those annoying filler posts!
This week, following Liverpool’s big win against Manchester United last Sunday, here’s a classic goal from that fixture in 1985, this week’s Man Crush – Jan Molby…look at him move!
And while we’re raiding YouTube for clips, here’s regular commenter Steven Harris‘ crush from last week, King Kenny himself…
I’ll be back into the swing of proper posts sooner rather than later, but hopefully this should keep you all going for now!
Ah that Molby goal. What I wouldn’t give to see that kind of attacking commitment from so called defensive midfielders today. And you wouldn’t want to get in the way of him going at that speed, would you? He was like an express train when he stepped up from him more normal amble around the pitch. Shame we have to thank Ron Atkinson for this clip finally being public property, but perhaps we can view it as part of his community service?
Watching the Kenny clips I can remember so many of those goals from Match of the Day in the 70s and 80s. The shimmies, the drag backs, the sudden turn which completely wrong footed defenders. Our current number 9 has the same level of skill. I do hope we’re still watching compilations of his goals in 30 years.

Oh, and I just wanted to ask, is ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ the best football anthem ever? I believe it is but am biased. Just wondered if supporters of other teams, or those with knowledge of other sports, know of other songs which can provide the same degree of inspiration, adulation and even comfort when times are bad?
