My new favourite sportsman

Here is my new favourite sportsman. Or at least baseball player. It started this morning with a silly tweet about the amateur draft.
Handsome Monica then retweeted my message.
This made me feel a little silly, and perhaps a little mean. It also made me think he is probably a pretty cool guy.
I then thought about how hard it is to keep track of the minor leagues and baseball’s development system generally.
So, my plan is to follow Handsome Monica’s career closely, from this week’s draft onwards. Hopefully he has a great career. And maybe through the prism of one particular player I can get a better feel for all that goes on for players aspiring to one day make the major leagues.

Not a sportsman, but for years an Italian propane gas supplier used to sponsor a cycling team – they are called Liquigas, although it is pronounced Leaky Gas, sadly this year they are the rather more boring Cannondale.

The minor leagues have an abundance of wonderful team names. Here’s to hoping that Mr. Pancake ends up playing at least a couple of games with the Montgomery Biscuits before his big call-up.
