Reader, I Married Her
by Steve
So, a little over a week ago I got married. I’m not entirely sure my writing can do justice to the day. It is so easy to fall into clichés, as it was the best day of my life, it did go far too quickly and I am so, so very happy to have married the love of my life.
Suffice to say, the pie and mash seemed to go down a treat, as did multiple bottles of wine. We had a couple of musicians in the afternoon and a jukebox in the evening, which was great fun. Even my wedding suit went down well. My bride looked absolutely wonderful.
We will be forever indebted to everyone who helped us prior to the day and on the day itself. It was very much a homemade affair (you have no idea how hard my wife worked on it – I tried to do my bit too!), and so on the day we relied heavily on our friends and family to help bring it all together. They did a fantastic job.
I’m so happy to be married to my best friend. And I’m so happy we got to share our day with the people closest to us.
Please forgive me for this soppy interlude! Normal service will resume shortly…
Congrats! Sappy interludes are permissible for, like, the first seven years of marriage.
Welcome back to the Internet. It missed you.

Congrats! Soppiness forgiven. My advice is to admit it when you’re wrong but stand up for yourself once in a while. A partnership requires cooperation and admitting you’re wrong now and again demonstrates that you’re willing to take some responsibility for that effort. However, no one wants to be married to a doormat.

Heartfelt emotions are never soppy, they are to be encouraged, Steve. Many congratulations. Here’s wishing you a lifetime of happiness together.

Congratulations Steve! It sounds wonderful. I wish you both all the happiness in the world.
And, as the 19th century literature maven, I especially appreciate the Jane Eyre reference. 🙂
