If Not I’ll Just Die

Funny to already be thinking about next year’s releases, but Lambchop have a new album out in February, I think. It is called Mr. M and they’ve shared a track from it, If Not I’ll Just Die. It is really rather lovely, and if the rest of the album is anywhere near this quality I think we’re in for something special. The album is dedicated to the late Vic Chesnutt.
Oh, and there is apparently one track called Mr. Met. I’m just hoping it is all about this guy.
Lambchop are one of those bands I’ve loved for so long that I’ll buy pretty much whatever they release (see also: Wilco, Ryan Adams, Tindersticks), even if it doesn’t quite match up to former glories. Yet, pretty much 20 years into their career they are still producing spellbinding music. Anyway, enough from me, check the track out below if you haven’t heard it yet (I know half the internet has been sharing this track for a week now, but what can I say? I’m slow).
[…] a hackneyed phrase (but when has that ever stopped me?), but on the evidence of this track and the other released track from the album this is a proper return to form. Not that Lambchop have ever really properly dipped […]
