Friday Jukebox: Father To A Sister Of Thought

To mark and celebrate the return of the excellent Beer and Pavement blog I thought it was particularly apt and obvious to choose a Pavement song. So I have, and Father To A Sister Of Thought is probably my favourite Pavement song, and as Pavement are one of my favourite bands, I guess it follows that Father To A Sister Of Thought is one of my favourite songs. Friday Jukebox: Low Key

I haven’t spent enough time with the new Tweedy album yet, but on first listen it is excellent – just the right balance between the approachable and comforting melodies Jeff Tweedy writes so well and the more challenging and restless rhythms he came up with and played with his son, Spencer. This video is great – directed by the equally brilliant Nick Offerman.

In my early teens there were still plenty of local record shops. There were the usual chains, and the shops that sold other stuff but had a record section, but there were independent stores too.
